Physics

Physics, taught by Mrs. Chase, is a class that explores how the world works through the study of both Algebra and Calculus-based physics. We cover key topics such as kinematics, energy, momentum, and circular motion, while following the AP curriculum. This course also includes hands-on labs, collaborative projects, and real-world experiments that help connect the concepts we learn in class to more practical applications in the real-world. Mrs. Chase also incorporates live demonstrations into her teaching to provide a deeper understanding of the material we cover, making physics a very engaging class.

Rocket Problem

The multi-step rocket problem assignment was an assignment designed to allow us to demonstrate our understanding of concepts we learned during the projectile motion and kinematics units. We were all assigned different values for our variables. However, the overall problem was similar for each one of us. There were so many different ways to approach this problem, and many steps that we had to go through to get to our final answer. There was room for small mistakes in those steps, which was the reason why this problem was a bit challenging.

Lab: Acceleration on an Inclined Plane

During our kinematics unit, in order to gain a better understanding on the concept of acceleration, we performed a lab by experimenting with a cart on an inclined plane. Using a photogate sensor, we tracked the cart's velocity on different incline heights. We then used kinematic equations and analyzed the data we calculated, in order to create a graph of the calculated acceleration results. I enjoyed this lab, as it helped us gain some experience in writing lab reports.
