I have played a variety of sports throughout my life, like horse-back riding, surfing, track, soccer, volleyball, ping pong, and I currently play tennis, and I swim competitively. My swim team today is the YMCA of Central Massachusetts Stingrays. I try my best to attend at least 3 practices per week during school weeks, and I aim for at least 4 during vacations. Regarding tennis, I currently play first singles at Doherty Memorial High School (best position on the team), and I aiming to become captain of the team soon.
I enjoy playing music: I play a tiny bit of piano, and I take guitar
lessons at the Joy
of Music Program in Worcester. I also love baking; my favorite
recipes include crêpes, apple pies, tiramisu, and cheesecakes. Other
things that I adore doing are learning more about the world and what
I can do to make it better.
Furthermore, I do Math Team and
Robotics. I started both clubs in Freshman year of high school. For
Math Team, the competitions are through WOCOMAL. Regarding Robotics, at my
sending school, I did VEX, but I am now doing First Robotics here at
Mass Academy.
As well as being interested in mathematics
and robotics, I am also greatly interested in aerospace engineering.
This is why a friend and I have come up with the amazing idea of
making our own Rocket Club! We still have to organize some things,
but we hope that we will be able to launch our club in the near
future.
Most of my volunteering was done with the African Community Education. I worked in the Saturday program, a program in which the students can have a fun day of classes, activities, and gym time to be able to learn and have fun in a nice environment. I taught mostly STEM, with topics including water, electricity, and engineering. The students were able to make fun projects, such as bridges that we stress tested, and solar and wind powered cars.
Another way I helped my community was through Mass Academy’s Community Service club, by collecting trash during Earth Day. This was a fun day and a little way to help address Global Warming. In the 3 hours that we were collecting trash in the MAMS neighborhood, we were able to pick up around 14 full 96-gallon bags!
