French!

In French, which is taught by Mme. Wildfong, we focus on improving in our language of choice (French or Spanish) using real materials created by people fluent in the respective language. These include music, books like Beauty and the Beast, movies like Azur and Asmar, and games like Clue and Monopoly. We regularly discuss any activities that we do and are expected (for the most part) to speak and write in the target language. We learn grammar through actual usage -- not theoretical practice -- and use lots of project-based movies including creating podcasts, movies, and smaller projects.

Conte de Fée

This assignment was a fairy tale that we needed to come up with and write on our own. Through these fairy tales, we solidified our foundations in grammar and certain tenses as well as learning about traditional French literature. We wrote these after watching and reading Beauty and the Beast, which (I think, at least) really helped set some expectations for us. This is not at all perfect -- there are multiple grammatical/word usage errors in my fairy tale -- but I managed to improve from this point and fix many mistakes that I used to make. I chose to write my fairy tale about three friends who need to save a town from a monster. If any names in the story seem familiar, it's because I used some of my friends' names in it.

Memes

In the language classes (both French and Spanish), we had an assignment to make three memes that were related to MAMS in some way. Some examples of topics that people used are STEM, Camp Bournedale, and even the language classes themselves. These memes get posted on bulletin boards in MAMS, and new ones are added just about every week.
