¡No ingles! As a fully immersive class, Advanced Spanish taught by Sra Wildfong takes a much different approach to language learning than traditional language classes. Rather than a typical language classroom, immersion Spanish focuses on exposing students to the language as much as possible. Throughout the class, we were exposed to countless Spanish pieces of literature while we were encouraged to participate and practice our conversational and pronunciation skills during class and group discussions.
Perhaps one of the most impactful assignments, we were assigned to write a short essay on an impactful childhood memory. I decided to write about the time when my dog ran away. I enjoyed how I was challenged to find ways to express my thoughts in Spanish, and the sense of accomplishment after seeing I had written a full essay in a completely different language was exhilarating! You can read the full essay here.
One of our long-term assignments for Advanced Spanish was to listen to or watch 10 pieces of Spanish content for each term. They could be movies, podcasts, music, anything - as long as it was in Spanish! Some of my favorite activities which I did included watching The Platform on Netflix and listening to music by artists like Karol G, Fuerza Regida, and Camilo. Here is an attachment of my full listening log as of now.
