Humanities:

The subject of humanities studies the history of human literature from the past to present day, primarily a combination of English and history. Daily assignments vary each day depending on the homework given on the day before. If the class was assigned a reading, then it would be discussed the next day, or if the class was assigned to write an essay, then the class would continue to work on that essay in class usually on the next day or the day after. As of early January, some of the topics the class has covered are: the history of Egyptian and Greek literature, satire, fallacies, and is now in the middle of discussing race and ethnicity in America. Below are two major assignments in pdf format.

Ancient Egypt Essay:

The following essay analyzes a set of poems uncovered from the ancient Egyptian city of Deir el-Medina, a city which the Egyptians designated as the workplace for the tombs of the Valley of the Kings. The essay compares the perspectives of love across the male and female gender, explaining and analyzing the differences in those perspectives.

Ancient Greek Essay:

The following essay analyzes two pieces of Greek literature which reflect the authors’ attitudes towards war, with one author thinking that it is a good and honorable act while the other considers it as an event full of losses. The essay provides evidence of the authors’ attitudes in the corresponding works of literature as well as from their personal lives and history.
