Research mentoring

In addition to formal thesis advising, I have mentored students on research projects in wave propagation, membrane filtration, and mathematical biology.

Graduate students

Cameron Norton, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, graduated in December 2025 with an M.S. thesis, Long Water Waves on Graphs, co-advised with André Nachbin.

Matthew Illingworth, a Ph.D. candidate at the New Jersey Institute of Technology, has worked with me on the topology and transport properties of membrane pore networks.

Haniyeh Fattahpour and Justyna Sokolik, then Ph.D. students at Georgia State University, worked with me on mathematical models of tissue growth in scaffold networks. Haniyeh is now adjunct faculty at George Mason University.

Undergraduate and pre-college students

Dylan Renaud and Catherine Souza, then undergraduates at the New Jersey Institute of Technology, worked with me on membrane-filtration projects. Dylan's project led to a publication in the Journal of Fluid Mechanics, and Catherine presented her work at the APS Division of Fluid Dynamics meeting.

In summer 2021, I mentored Justin Lee, Siddarth Kunisetty, and Heer Patel from the Middlesex County Academy for Science, Mathematics and Engineering Technologies, together with Anay Badlani from West Orange High School, on a membrane-filtration research project.
