This class is taught by Madame Wildfong and is an excellent way to truly immerse yourself in the world of French. By reading books, listening to music, and watching movies, there are many opportunities to speak, listen, and write in French. I think this class does an excellent job of finding entertaining and engaging ways to get students thinking about French and participating in discussions no matter how confident they are with their skills. We are currently working on shooting our short films; each group came up with a plot idea and while B term was spent forming the storyline and drawing out the scenes, C term will be centered around bringing these scenes to life and recording and compiling them.
This was such a fun assignment to explore different elements of fairytales and apply them to our own. We got to start from scratch and create the plot and characters and then implement the fairytale style with things like magic and talking animals. It had been a while since I wrote in French too, so this was an excellent experience at getting me focused on the writing while still having fun with the plot. This was also a good way to revise the different tenses and in what context they should be used. I used my friends as characters in the story and set up a short but sweet plot so I wouldn’t exceed the one-page limit. Overall, I really enjoyed getting to write in this style and thought it was a good chance to build more practice on my writing skills.
This was definitely my favorite French project. We all worked on cooking one dish to bring in so everyone could try all the dishes and then give a presentation on their dish and how they made it. I worked in a group and we made multiple French items to bring in and it was fun getting to try cooking all these new things with them. The presentation goes over the ingredients, steps taken, and future steps if I had more time. The actual event where we got to try everyone’s food was also very exciting and it was cool to see all the different food items people chose to make.
