Spanish

What is it about?

In Spanish class, we engage in many fun activities that keep everyone involved while helping us learn and speak Spanish effectively. We watch Spanish movies and videos, listen to Spanish songs, read books, play board games, and much more. The highlight of Spanish class is the group project where we create a movie. The topic is entirely up to you, which makes working with friends even more enjoyable. We also study essential Spanish tenses, such as the preterite, imperfect, conditional, and the future tenses. These topics are taught in an engaging way, making it easier for everyone to learn and speak Spanish more fluently.

Listening Logs

Our listening logs are an assignment we complete every term, where we listen to 10 different Spanish audio recordings for at least 20 minutes each. One of the requirements is to listen to at least two different songs. Afterward, we must provide a brief description of the content of each audio. This assignment is really enjoyable because you get to choose what you listen to. I've listened to all my favorite shows in Spanish. The assignment has also helped me improve my ability to understand Spanish when it's spoken quickly.

El NiƱez Essay

This essay was one of the first assignments we had in Spanish. The task was to write about a story from our childhood, using both the preterite and imperfect tenses. I chose to write about a trip to Jamaica. In my essay, I described the airplane ride, the Moon Palace Hotel, the pools, Dunn's River Falls, and the fluorescent lake. Writing this essay really helped me understand the difference between the use of the preterite and imperfect tenses, and it also improved my overall writing skills in Spanish.
