2014

December: The research on Lithium Ion Battery Recycling Technology was mentioned by WPI's President, Laurie Leshin, as one of the key innovations at WPI. President Leshin drives a Tesla, and we can recycle her batteries.

October: The research on Novel Iron Production was awarded the Kalenian Award.

2013

March: Professor Wang is one of the Co-PI to receive a $7.4 million grant from the Army Research Laboratory. Professor Wang's group will develop a process to reduce rare earth oxide to metal with the electrochemical method.

March: A Master student, Meinan He, won second place at the Innovation Exchange, WPI's annual graduate research poster competition during GRAD 2013.

2012

August: Professor Wang was interviewed by the Worcester Magazine for his flow battery invention.

June: The research on high energy density flow batteries was awarded the MassCEC Catalyst Award.

April: MQP group (James Davison and James Boyce) won the Provost Award in Chemical Engineering

April: MQP group (Ricardo Bonhomme, Paul Gasper, Joshua Hines, Jean Paul Miralda) won the Provost Award in both Materials Science and Engineering and Business School.

A Master student, Haiyang Zou, won first place in the Graduate Sustainability Competition.

March: A Master student, Haiyang Zou, won first place at the Innovation Exchange, WPI's annual graduate research poster competition during GRAD 2012.

2011

August: Qina Sa joined EEL to pursue a Ph.D. degree.

August: Zhangfeng Zheng joined EEL to pursue a Ph.D degree.

August: James Davison and James Boyce joined EEL to do their MQP.

May: Haiyang Zou joined EEL to pursue a master degree.

2010

December 15: Professor Yan Wang arrived at WPI to set up the Electrochemical Energy Lab (EEL) in Washburn Shops 342.
