The last sixth set of extra problems following the discussion at the conference on Friday, May 2, is here. The problems provide an excellent source for additional practice invaluable for success performance in the upcoming Monday test.

This fifth set of extra problems follows the discussion at the last conference on Friday, April 25, 2014. It can be used for additional practice with problems in multiple integration.

Problem Set No 5 (with solutions) (PDF).

Tuesday, April 2, 2013; 5:00 pm

Here is the second Special Problem in this course - an excellent opportunity for an additional (slightly advanced) exercise and also a chance to earn some bonus points.

For all explanations and references regarding a Special Problem, see the Special Problem Rules.

The SP #2 is concerned with double integration over a non-rectangular region.

Special Problem #2:

Evaluate the integral of the function f(x, y) = 3 over the plane region in the first quadrant bounded by y = 2x - 4 and 8y = 16 + x^2.

The deadline for your e-mail claims regarding the obtained solution is:

Wednesday, April 23, 2014, 5:00 pm.

Please send short (not more than several lines) concise plain-text messages (no doc/pdf attachments, please!) clearly explaining your approach, showing a couple of major intermediate results, and giving your final answer.

The solution should be presented by a winner in class on Friday, April 25.

Friday, April 11, 2014; 6:15 pm

Here is the fourth set of extra problems (distributed at the conference on Friday, April 11, 2014) that can be used for additional practice with problems in multiple integration.

Problem Set No 4 (with solutions) (PDF).

Tuesday, April 8, 2014; 5:00 pm

Here is the first Special Problem in this course - an excellent opportunity for an additional meaningful (and somewhat advanced) exercise and also a chance to earn some bonus points. It would be wise not to ignore this chance - by the end of the course, you may need some points to improve your grade, but at that time there could be the lack of suitable options.

For all explanations and references regarding a Special Problem, see the Special Problem Rules.

The SP #1 is concerned with double integration over a non-rectangular region.

Special Problem #1:

Evaluate the integral:
Problem 42

The deadline for your e-mail claims regarding the obtained solution is:

Wednesday, April 9, 2014, 5:00 pm.

Please send short (not more than several lines) concise plain-text messages (no doc/pdf attachments, please!) clearly explaining your approach, showing a couple of major intermediate results, and giving your final answer.

The solution should be presented by a winner in class on Thursday, April 10.

Saturday, April 5, 2014; 11:30 pm

Next set of extra problems (distributed at the third conference) is here for your additional practice with problems in multivariable optimization.

Problem Set No 3 (with solutions) (PDF).

Saturday, March 29, 2014; 10:30 pm

Another set of extra problems (distributed at the second conference) is here - use it for additional practice with the topics considered so far in the course. To facilitate your preparation to the first test next week, the problems are given along with their solutions. Solutions to the first problem set (distributed at the first conference) are also provided.

Problem Set No 2 (with solutions) (PDF).
Solutions for Problem Set No 1 (PDF).

Saturday, March 22, 2014; 10:00 pm

Here is the set of extra problems distributed at the first conference. Use them for additional practice in the topics discussed in the first classes of the course.
