OPERATIONAL GUIDELINES
1. The instructors are H. W. Hilsinger- Lecturer (hwh@wpi, 831-5631) and T. H. Keil- Logistical support (thkeil@wpi, 831-5419).
2. The syllabus details the topics and reading assignments. Performance in the course will be measured by how well you satisfy the objectives stated in the Study Guides. Much of the activities of lectures and conferences will be directed toward helping you to attain mastery of these objectives. Experience shows that the best ways for you to acquire the skills necessary to master the objectives are to keep up- to-date in the course, attempt all of the suggested questions and problems, and seek help if you cannot solve the problems.
3. Four examinations are scheduled:
Sec. 1-6 Sec. 7-12 Mon., Nov. 10- 10:00- 10:50 a.m. 1:30- 2:20 p.m. Fri., Nov. 21- 10:00- 10:50 a.m. 1:30- 2:20 p.m. Mon., Dec. 8 - 10:00- 10:50 a.m. 1:30- 2:20 p.m. Fri., Dec. 19- 10:00- 10:50 a.m. 1:30- 2:20 p.m.
4. Homework assignments are given in the Study Guides, along with due dates.
6. Course Evaluation: Evaluation will be apportioned as follows:
a. Examinations 70% b. Homework 10% c. Conference work 10% d. Laboratory Work* 10% * To pass the course you must complete the two experiments. Note: Your final grade is assigned by your conference instructor. Attend conference to find out if there are other criteria you must meet to pass the course.
7. The best piece of advice that can be passed to you as taken from student course evaluations in the past is:
"It is most important to do all of the problems and to keep up-to-date on problem assignments."
