Problem Session -- Discrete Mathematics Day At WPI 2015
We tried something new with our last Discrete Math Day at WPI. With some adjustments, we'll be
trying it again in September 2015!
As participant arrival is spread across a wide range of times (due to same-day
travel from a variety of locations), we have a long coffee break (with light breakfast)
planned for the beginning of the day, with the first talk starting at 10am.
So, to encourage mathematical discussion and to sow the seeds of collaboration,
we invite participants to bring open problems -- either research problems or
interesting puzzles -- to the morning session.
- Problems should be typeset on a single sheet of paper, with your name and contact
info provided. Here is an example that might help.
- Please arrive with 10-20 copies of your problem if possible since there will be no
central platform for problem presentation. A table will be provided for problem
distribution.
- Alternatively (and preferably!), please send a properly formatted
LaTeX file to Bill Martin by September 11th and he will collate these and distribute them.
(Here is a sample format, if you'd like to use it.)
- Expect to discuss your problem (and problems that interest you) during the breaks
with other participants throughout the day
If you have any questions or suggestions, please contact the organizers.
