Each group is to design and take measurements from some stable process. The group is to demonstrate that the process is stable using the tools developed in this module.
Before taking the measurements, the group is to submit a short (less than one page) proposal stating what they intend to measure, how they intend to measure it, and why they think the measurements will represent a stable process. After receiving approval, the group is to take the measurements as described in the proposal.
In its project report the group should demonstrate the stability or instability of the process. In the latter case, the report should tell why the process failed to be stable as predicted. If appropriate, the sources and causes of variation in the process should also be analyzed.
There are several measuring instruments available for groups to use. These include calipers, rulers, measuring tapes, and stopwatches. But the idea for what to measure must come from you. Also, you are expected to do most of your project work outside of class. So put your heads together, and good luck!
