Fourier Series
Fourier Series is a representation of a
signal with an orthonormal
basis set such as sine and cosine or exponential functions. There are three
types of Fourier Series. Trigonometric
and Compact Fourier Series use sine and cosine functions as an orthonormal
basis set and Exponential Fourier Series use complex exponentials as an
orthonormal basis set. Fourier
Series is simply a way to break down a signal into its components using a
designated basis set. Orthogonal
Vectors and Basis Sets leading up to Fourier Series are described with
mathematical expressions here. There are many links to Fourier and other
useful sites at the online materials page.
