my ACTIVITIES

national park service

For as long as I can remember, my family has always loved the outdoors. We always went for family hikes at various places around New England, but we have also been to many national parks. We often visit Acadia National Park, and have also been to Shenandoah National Park and Glacier National Park. I hope to visit all the national parks in my lifetime, as they each offer new opportunities for learning about the environment and new vistas to view. I started volunteering for the National Parks of Boston at Faneuil Hall over the summer before my junior year and will be continuing as part of my community service hours.

music

Ever since I was 7 years old, my grandma has taught me piano, and that is how I got my foot into the door of music. In middle school, I picked up the clarinet, transitioned to oboe, learned trumpet, and eventually stuck with oboe up until now. In my freshman year of high school, I learned tenor saxophone so I could join marching band, and joined my first ever outside-of-school ensemble, the Rhode Island Philharmonic Youth Wind Ensemble on oboe. In my sophomore year, I auditioned for and got accepted to the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestras and am currently still in it. Oboe is now my main instrument, but I would like to learn many others, like guitar, cello, and organ. Outside of performing music, I love listening to all sorts of music, classical, pop, country, and more! I am also interested in music education and administration, and have volunteered at my town's middle school band camp and at the VETS for some of my community service hours. I also occassionally play at church services both on piano and oboe.

Beginning in Pack 65, I have been involved in Scouts BSA for over 11 years. I earned my Eagle Rank in March 2023 for building outdoor learning spaces for a local elementary school, including an outdoor education trail and an outdoor learning area with benches and a shed for storage. I have earned over 65 merit badges and have earned the Albert Einstein Gold Supernova award.
