Hey, I am Joe Wilkos.  I have been biking as long as I can remember, but have been biking seriously for about 8 years.  I started mountain biking when my family moved out to Glastonbury, CT and I found local trails right in my backyard.  I was curious where they led so I took my bike and started exploring.  From that day on I was hooked.  I rode those trails over and over again never growing tired of them.

I started biking with one of my best friends and his dad told us about a state forest, a couple of miles from our houses, which was packed with trails.  Any type of mountain biking you could want, you could find here.  From then on all I wanted to do was go biking, discover where new trials led and what new obstacles I could conquer.  I tore that place up, leaving no new trails unexplored and riding through most obstacles I came across.

Then came college and a job and I found it harder to get out and go mountain biking at the end of the day.  But I still longed for that sense of exploration and freedom that I got from biking.  That’s why I started road biking.  As soon you step out of your door and get on the road, you pretty much have an unlimited number of trails you can take.   An unlimited number of routes to explore and that was what I was missing.  I started riding with the WPI cycling club towards the end to last race season and was able to do one race.   Now this season I am actually going to train for the race season and see how that goes.
