What is Alpha Psi Omega?

Alpha Psi Omega is the national dramatic honor fraternity. The Rho Kappa cast of Alpha Psi Omega is at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) in Worcester, Massachusetts. Members are chosen twice each year, at the end of each semester (or, in the case of WPI, during the productions of the B-term show and New Voices).

Symbols

Alpha Psi Omega's colors are amber and light blue, to represent the colors most commonly used in theatrical lighting. Alpha Psi Omega's flower is the African Violet.

Constitution

This is the current Constitution of the Rho Kappa cast of Alpha Psi Omega as amended on March 13th, 2019.

Nomination Statement

The following is our formal statement of what we expect from students looking to be nominated:

The Rho Kappa Cast of Alpha Psi Omega looks for many characteristics in potential members. Each student must have completed four terms of theatre at WPI in order to be nominated. While four terms of theatre is the only formal requirement for nomination, the cast looks for more. Characteristics considered include:

- Students with a varying range of postions held on productions, showing an interest in all aspects of theatre

- High level positions that take more time and knowledge, showing an area of expertise

- A person that is enjoyable to work with, helpful to other members of the theatre community, and is able to manage theatre and schoolwork

The cast does not encourage sacrificing academic responsibilities for those of a production. We recognize students that know how much they can commit to a production, even if that means asking for help or saying "no" to a higher level position. Upon joining the Rho Kappa Cast, each member is expected to behave appropriately and in a way that represents Alpha Psi Omega in a positive manner.
