- Work and Membership:
- On April 2007 Clarence
Plant was appointed Commonwealth National Bank Advisory Board Member.
National Property Management Association - For the past 12
years, Clarence has been an active member of the National Property
Management Association and President of the North Atlantic Chapter,
which consists of property administrators, ACOs, and program managers
from universities, industries, and the Federal Government.
- On January 19, 2007, Clarence Plant was installed as the new Chapter
Vice President for the 2007-2009 term.
- As a Certified Professional Property Manager, and past President of
the North Atlantic NPMA, Clarence has direct contact with property
administrators and program managers of Federal Agencies, Industries,
and Universities throughout the country.
- Clarence was called upon to speak at the NPMA 1995 National
Educational Seminar, and in September 1996, he was appointed Eastern
Region NPMA job coordinator.
- Clarence was also called upon to speak at the 1995 USA Excess
Property Screening Convention, and to address the Federal Program
Managers at the 1999 USA Excess Property Screening Convention,
Lexington, KY.
- On August 7, 1996, he was appointed North Eastern Director of the
Users and Screeners Association.
- At the 1997 National Educational Seminar held in Reno, Clarence was
presented the 1997 Outstanding Member Award by the NPMA President.
Since being elected president of the North Atlantic Chapter
certification have increase by 35%.
Training Seminar-
On March 10,1998 Clarence held a one day Training Seminar (PROFESSIONAL
PROPERTY PARTNERSHIPS BUILDING FOR THE NEW
MILLENNIUM). Clarence completed all the requirements and
submitted his application for Consultant Fellow (CF) certification, an
honor he received on June 3, 1998 at the NPMA National Meeting in Santa
Fe, New Mexico.
- In addition, he was also appointed Members Advocate for the NPMA
nationals. July 2, 2002 Clarence was appointed Ombudsperson for the
Eastern Region of the National Property Management Association.
- For over 26 years, Clarence has been an active member of the
Association of the United States Army, which consists of the Defense
Industrial Base, and civilian and military personnel.
- In 1986, he founded the Irving J. Yarock AUSA Company at Worcester
Polytechnic Institute.
- In 1990, he was elected to the Board of Directors of the
Minutemen Chapter, and in 1992, he became Vice-President. On
December 7, 1992, he received the Minutemen Chapter’s Louis
M. Perlstein Award. On March 31, 1993, Clarence accepted an
invitation to serve as a member on the AUSA National Advisory Board of
Directors. In March of 1994, Clarence accepted a position as
Vice-President of the New England Region of the AUSA. On June 5, 2004
during the First Region Annual Meeting with General Sullivan, president
AUSA National and formal Chief of Staff US Army present accepted the
president position of the Minuteman Chapter, AUSA, and First Region.
- Since retiring from the Army, Clarence assumed the duties of Asset
Manager/Administrative Services Officer for Worcester Polytechnic
Institute and now as Property Administrator. Presently he is
responsible for all assets of the Institute that have a value of
$500.00 or more with a total value of $492,609,973.65. He has
also saved the Institute millions of dollars in excess property in
support of research and other institute usage.
- Clarence is committed to helping other property
professional’s advance in the property field. He is
also a mentor to many faculties, staff, and students at WPI.
He has been appointed as advisor to the Black Student Union (BSU) and
to the Board of Advisors of the Society of Hispanic Professional
Engineers (SHPE), an organization that honored him with their
Administrator of the Year Award for 1998. Because of his
great commitment to the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), he
was awarded the W.E.B DuBois Award of Dedication on April 12,
1996. Clarence is also working on several political
committees.
- Clarence is a past Noble Grand of the Independent Order of Odd
Fellows, Worcester Lodge # 56, and is now serving as
Secretary. Clarence is also a past Grand Chaplain and Marshal
of the Grand Lodge of Massachusetts. On June 8, 1996, he was
elected Grand Warden of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows of
Massachusetts; and on June 7, 1997, was elected Deputy Grand
Master. June 13, 1998, Clarence was elected and installed
Grand Master of the state of Massachusetts. The very first Minority
Grand Master in the 180 years of Odd Fellows in North American and he
received a citation from the Massachusetts State Senate for outstanding
leadership. On June 12, 1999, Clarence was elected and installed Grand
Representative to the Sovereign Grand Lodge, Independent Order of Odd
Fellows of the World. He is a trustee of the Odd Fellow Home
and Chairperson of the Arthritis fundraising committee for the Grand
Lodge, of which the I.O.O.F. of Massachusetts has contributed over
$225,237.00 to the Arthritis Foundation this year, of which $31,237.50
was donated on the night of April 10, 2004, through the 10th Annual
Arthritis Charity Ball. On March 24, 2004 Clarence received the
Trustees of the Arthritis Foundation Trustees Awards for all his
volunteer efforts. On June 4, 2004, Clarence was reelected Grand
Secretary of the Grand Lodge of Massachusetts, IOOF, June 5, 2004,
Clarence Plant, CPPM, CF, was reelected as secretary to the board of
trustee’s of the Odd Fellows Home his responsibility rest
with overseas the operation of the 100 bed home. On June 9, 2004,
Clarence was appointed medical officer for the Department Council of
Patriarchs of Massachusetts. On March 27, 1997, Clarence
received the 1996 Service Award for the Worcester Area from the
Arthritis Foundation, and on April 5, 1997, Clarence received a
citation from the Massachusetts State Senate for his work with the
Arthritis Foundation. On August 22, 2003 Clarence appointed
to the Sovereign Grand Master committee to assist in raising 1.3
millions dollars to build an Odd Fellows community in Cambodia to
support the needed Children’s. He is also a member of the
Trustees of Funds Committee and the Finance Committee for the Grand
Lodge of Massachusetts. On June 9, 2004 Clarence received from the
State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations, the Senate Citation
for his long, dedicated and distinguished service to Odd Fellowship. On
June 11, 1995, Clarence was installed as the President of the Retired
Armed Forces Association of New England. On June 13, 1995,
Clarence was selected to the Board of Directors of Girls, Inc. of
Worcester. On July 23, 1996, the Worcester City Manager
appointed Clarence to the Off-Street Parking Board. He was also
appointed to the facility committee of the YMCA on April of
1998. In October 2002, Clarence was elected to the board of
Directors of Children’s Friend. On September 26, 1996,
Clarence was elected as a member of the Worcester Rotary Club; and on
May 8, 1997, was appointed Chairperson of the Classification Committee.
July 11, 2000, Clarence was appointed to the Event Committee (A Salute
to our Korean War Veterans of Worcester Country) this committee brought
forth on September 17, 2000, John McDermott, sixteen Foreign Nation
Representatives, All U.S. Congressional Delegation and Elected
Officials from Massachusetts and all Military leaders from
Massachusetts, Representatives from each Branch Chief of staff office
at the Pentagon, two metals of honors winners and 2,313 people. This
committee profited over $121,123.50 for this event. On December 12,
2000, Clarence was appointed to the Neighborhood Executive Cabinet of
the City of Worcester. On January 24, 2002, Clarence was appointed
co-chair of the executive cabinet of Worcester.
-Clarence Plant, CPPM, CF has been elected to sit on the Commonwealth
National Bank Advisory Board: Quote "I am very grateful to have been
elected to the Commonwealth National Bank Advisory Board. As a mentor
and advisor too many young people, I feel that it is important to lead
by example. I hope that my involvement in the local community will
provide them with a role model and that they will strive to make a
difference in their own communities, and also improving the business
success that you are involved, Commonwealth National Bank has giving me
that opportunity to make a different and for that I appreciate. "
- Gregory, 36, is a graduate of Nichols College, a Captain in the Quartermaster Corps Reserves and accounting manager
for Browning Ferris Industries, Springfield, Massachusetts Division Controller office. Clarence Jr., 33, is a
graduate of Worcester State College and now Associate Manager for Stop & Shop Supermarket chain.
