My name is Vinayak Rao, and I am a junior at Mass Academy. I am born and raised in Massachusetts and currently live in Shrewsbury with my parents and older brother. My passion for STEM led me to apply to MAMS, and I feel lucky to have the opportunity to attend classes here. I've always loved to learn new skills. Recently, I began to learn Python, and enjoy trying to do problems on different websites such as Codewars and HackerRank. I also like to learn smaller, less significant skills such as card throwing or whistling. Although these skills may not be as “useful” as coding, learning them helps to relieve stress and is a lot a fun!
I'm also a football and basketball fan and try to watch Patriots and Celtics games whenever I can. If I have time, I also play basketball with some of my friends. Recently, I've also gotten into chess and have found that it can be surprisingly addictive. If you want to play chess online, I recommend chess.com. It's a platform for people of all skill levels and is widely used, making it easy to quickly get into a game with a player of equal ability.
Finally, I love to travel. Although I haven't been anywhere since the start of the pandemic, I've been lucky to have the opportunity to travel all around the country and the world. It's always a pleasure to learn about a new culture, and the feeling of traveling is always exciting. My favorite destinations were Italy and Switzerland, which had breathtaking views.
