Eastern Regional Championships. Additionally, the McBrine division owes their
conference dues from the 1999-2000 season. The current balance for the
conference is $271.00.

of officers:
Chairman-Mark Sullivan (WPI)
Vice Chairman – Kim Bownes (PSC)
Secretary – Bill Canning (TRIN)
Additional nominations were sought from the general

G00-04 USCSA National Meeting Report
Laura Sullivan (WPI)
delivered a report from the USCSA National Meeting in Albany.
G00-05 Competition Schedules
This is the last year that
there will be six weekends between Martin Luther King weekend and Presidents
weekend for colleges to compete. The
Thompson Division extended invitations to the other two divisions to compete in
either the first or last race of their season. The McBrine Division would have
to obtain the appropriate USSA membership to be involved.
Eastern Regional
Championships 2001 will be February 25th and 26th.
The 2001 USCSA
Championships will be March 6th through the 10th at Bogus
Basin Idaho.
F99-01 Snowboarding
The Chairman indicated as part of initiating a snowboarding division, he
is hoping to have a regional event concurrent with the Eastern Regional
Championships at Waterville Valley. In order to encourage growth, it was agreed
at the USCSA National meeting that snowboarding teams would not have to pay
this years national dues. The new Snowboarding
Division will have to obtain insurance for their events.
F99-02 Finish Line Banners
Mark Sullivan restated the
importance this program holds for the conference. He encouraged all teams to actively participate in the program to
make the skiing public aware of who is competing. One of the possible benefits sighted was alumni involvement.
F99-03 Realignment
Jason Moore, former Green Mountain
College ski coach, petitioned the Osborne Division for membership. He stated
GMC’s desire is to be competitively challenged through out the year, not just
at post-season events. Jason indicated a move to the Osborne division is
important to GMC’s pursuit to improve their skiing program. Additionally, he
stated he is having difficulty recruiting skiers while competing in the
Thompson Division.
Mark Sullivan stated that a precedent
has been developed through past history where births did not move when teams
were realigned to other divisions. This is an important factor to keep in mind
when the issue of realignment or moving teams comes up for discussion.
Kim Bownes, representing the Osborne
Division, stated at this juncture it was not possible to have another team move
to Osborne Division because there was no room and no one at this time wanted to
move. Kim Bownes reported the outcome of Osborne’s discussion was unanimous.
S00-01 2002 USCSA National Championships
ECSC won the bid to run
the 2002 USCSA Nationals Championships at Waterville Valley ski area. Mark
Sullivan’s stated this is the premier event for college ski racing. Other areas
bidding for the 2002 event were Sugarloaf USA and Loon Mt.
In preparation for the
event, the need to utilize talent and experience within the division was
discussed. Any ECSC member, parent or student who had experience in accounting,
graphic design, web page programming, advertising and TV industry savvy was
asked to donate their time and experience to help make this a showcase event.
Currently a sponsor relationship with Rossignol and A.C. Embroidery has been
developed.
S00-02 NCAA National Championships
Jonathan Shefftz presented his research regarding the requirement for an
athlete to attend the NCAA National Championships if qualified. As a result of
Jonathans work EISA has revised their rule book. He stated that the revised
EISA rule was not any clearer now than it was before.
S00-03 ECSC Eastern Regional Championships
The ECSC Eastern Regional Championships will stay scheduled on a Sunday
and Monday so that NCAA affiliated schools will have the option to participate
in the EISC Championships at Middlebury. With the 2002 USCSA National
Championships scheduled after the NCAA’s, it is possible the Eastern Regional
Championships could be moved back one week, eliminating the scheduling
conflict.
F00-01 Schools With Two Ski Teams
At the USCSA National
meeting, it was decided that a school with more that one ski team could not
have their second team be a member of the UCSCA. These secondary teams can
however compete during the regular season with any division, but attendance at
the Regional Championship is left to the decision of that particular division.
These secondary teams are not allowed to participate in USCSA National
Championships.
All divisions caucused at this time.
Meeting
adjourned at 3:30pm.
