At 8:00 am this morning (3/2/04) I caught sight of an adult peregrine falcon perched on the copper parapet of the 12 story office building located at the corner of Main and Franklin in downtown Worcester. The falcon remained on the perch for at least 15 minutes and would periodically emit a loud wail that I could easily hear over the traffic noise. Though I have seen these falcons many times in the downtown area this was the first time I ever heard one. I have read that peregrines can be noisy during the breeding season. Lets hope the cry was a love song to a mate. (report from Bob Ricci).
