The following details were supplied in support of bird sightings reported
in the Central Mass Bird Update. Birders are
asked to submit such details for birds that are unexpected due to the
time of year or the location.
5/3/99 -- Joe Fay:
I saw the Bay-Breasted Warbler about 15 ft. high and at a distance less than
20 ft.
I thought first of towhee but this bird had very distinct wingbars and the
chestnut
or (bay) coloring was extremely bright under his wings extending up to and
including the neck. His belly was a light wash (white or very pale yellow).
I didn't see the head very clearly except that it was quite dark looking from
about a 7 or 8 oclock position.
