About Me

My name is Rddhima Bora, and I’m currently a student at the Massachusetts Academy of Math & Science. My sending school is the Advanced Math & Science Academy Charter School (AMSA) in Marlborough, MA. At my sending school I participated in many clubs like Math Team, FIRST Tech Robotics, Leaders of Tomorrow, and Speech & Debate, which I enjoyed. Some of my academic interests include computer science, neuroscience, and biology. I love to volunteer and work with kids, and I also have a j-o-b at the Kumon Learning Center in Shrewsbury, MA. I live in Shrewsbury, MA with my mom, dad, and little brother. I enjoy spending time with my friends, whether it’s stressing out over homework or laughing over silly jokes. My family and friends are an important part of my life and I’m so grateful to have them!

In my free time I love to bake and cook recipes I find online. From making a pizza from scratch to banana bread, cooking is a relaxing break for me, giving me a structure to follow and get a rewarding product at the end! I also like to learn languages on Duolingo, and my streak is over 1000 days so far. Additionally, I'm fluent in English, Assamese, and Hindi.

Music

I enjoy listening to music, as it's a big part of my life. You’ll NEVER catch me leaving the house without my AirPods. I love expanding my music taste, and some of my current favorite music genres are R&B and rap, including artists like Drake, Brent Faiyaz, Leon Thomas, Giveon, and Daniel Caesar. I also enjoy attending concerts, and some concerts I've attended are Bryson Tiller and The Weeknd with Playboi Carti.

One of my favorite hobbies is playing the guitar and I have been playing for around 4 years now. I started off playing with an acoustic guitar, before taking a break because it got pretty boring. After a little while I began playing the electric guitar and I quickly became way more interested as I could experiment with new styles, sounds, and techniques (it’s also way easier to play). Currently I play at seasonal band performances at my music school, the School of Rock in Northborough, MA.

Sports

Tennis is my favorite sport to play, and I’ve been playing for over 4 years. I played for AMSA’s Varsity Girl's Tennis team, and it was a great time. Getting to bond with my friends and all the members of the team gave me amazing new friendships and I learned a lot from being on the team. It taught me important lessons like learning how to make decisions constantly and quickly, and to stay hydrated all the time which are some things that I won’t forget.

Travel

I enjoy traveling with my family. My family is from Assam, a state in the northeast region of India, and we go there to visit my extended family every few summers. I also like visiting new places with my family, and some of my favorite places that I’ve visited are Puerto Rico and Disney World.

Community Service

At my sending school I participated in a club called the Leaders of Tomorrow/Today’s Leaders (LOT), which was a club dedicated to volunteering at events throughout the community. Attending volunteering events for LOT helped me get closer to my community, as I got to meet a lot of different people, support causes in my community, and see that my help was impactful.

During junior year, I volunteered at the Community Harvest Project in Grafton where I helped pick vegetables ready for harvest. Additionally, I also volunteered at FIRST Lego League (FLL) events, and helped with various tasks like field resetting, concessions, and more.
