One of my favorite hobbies is crocheting. Ever since I stumbled on a crochet TikTok video back in December of 2023, I became hooked (pun intended). Crocheting allows me to relax after a long day, channel my creativity, and create something cool for myself or a gift. Although the process of crocheting is very tedious, the end result is always worth it. Most of my projects include clothes, stuffed animals, and accessories. One of my favorite YouTube channels for crochet tutorials is One Cent Crochet which has a variety of cute animal tutorials.
Music has always been very enjoyable for me, whether it is listening to my 26 hour long Spotify playlist or playing a tune on my saxophone or piano. My current favorite artists to listen to are Drake, Frank Ocean, Lana Del Rey, Travis Scott, SZA, Tame Impala, Don Toliver, and Gunna. The most recent concert that I went to was Travis Scott's Utopia tour which was a very cool experience. Along with this, I have been playing the alto saxophone since fifth grade and I have recently joined WPI's concert band which has been very fun.
At my sending school, I participated in a lot of athletics throughout the year. I played soccer in fall, and ran track in the spring. Playing sports allows me to make strong connection with my teammates, and I enjoy the competition aspect as well. My favorite track events are the 100m hurdles and the triple jump, but I enjoy going on long runs in my free time. I have ran in two half-marathon races, one in Boston this year, and one in Chicago last year which were challenging, but still fun.
At Tahanto, I enjoyed being involved within my school and community through participating in numerous clubs throughout both my freshman and sophomore years. I was a part of math team, science club, Model United Nations, ski club, and more. Currently, at MAMS, I participate in the FRC 190 robotics team, WPI concert band, math team, and crochet club. Although these extracurriculars require a lot of time commitment, they are all very interesting and enjoyable for me.
I also enjoy getting involved within my community by being a member of my local Leo's club, which is a organization for middle and high school students within my school district that volunteers at numerous community service events throughout the year such as cooking meals for the local homeless shelter and food bank, helping out at charity events, and more. Along with this, I spent a lot of time volunteering as a tutor for a non-profit called UPcheive, which supports kids of all ages in many geographical locations. I'm excited to continue my community service throughout junior and senior year at MAMS!
