Invited Talk at Union College
I am thrilled to be invited by Dr. Shruti Mahajan to give a talk as part of the CS Seminar Series at Union College.
About the talk
Skills for Making Video Games: Learning by Doing and Reflecting
Max Chen Worcester Polytechnic Institute
When: Thu, 9/18, 12:50-1:50pm Where: Olin 107
Abstract: Making video games is part creative chaos, part science, and all teamwork. What skills do you really need to make a video game, and how can you learn them? In this talk, I will unpack the process of making games, from initial concepts to published titles, using stories and studies from the MassDigi Summer Innovation Program. We will explore the components of game development, the skills that matter, and how human-computer interaction research helps us understand what works and what doesn’t in small multidisciplinary teams. Whether you are an aspiring developer or just curious about how video games are made, join us for an inside look at how learning happens when we make games.
