Community Service

Primarily, I volunteer at Louisa May Alcott's Orchard with both the Children's Summer Programs and as a garden volunteer. I love volunteering with the summer programs especially because I like to interact with kids (outside of volunteering, I work as a class assistant for yougner kids at my ballet school). Every year, I get to help many kids express themselves through either writing or acting, and I also get to see them build strong friendships, even the kids who were the most shy the first day.

I also volunteer in the gardens, which is also satisfying. I did not have a lot of experience gardening before I started, but it was something that was simple to pick up and also helpful. From my first day, I enjoyed it because I knew that I would get along well with the main garden volunteer when she said, "a beautiful garden is not always full of blooms, but is neat and tidy."
