In Math Modeling with Mrs. Burns, we tackle challenging problems which stretch our mathematical ability. Additionally, we do a long-term modelling problem each week. Some of these can be fun, while others can be pretty annoying.
One of our modeling problems was to create a method to find out on which day of the week you were born (between 1900 and 2100). Below is our result, including a set of simplified instructions. Try it out yourself!
HiMCM is a group-based math competition that I spent 48 hours on with Venkatraman Varatharajan, Omar El Nesr, and Rianna Santra. The format involves writing a paper based on a mathematical modeling prompt. This year, we explore modeling bee populations using python code, and our write-up is shown below.
