STEM II

In STEM II, we put ourselves into groups and had to design a piece of assistive technology for a disability. My group’s device was designed to help those with visual impairments navigate in public areas. It used an Arduino with an accelerometer attached (to detect rotation and position), as well as two vibrating motors to communicate directions to the user. It would vibrate a single motor to tell the user to turn in that direction, turn both motors off to tell the user to move forward, and turn them both on to tell the user to stop. After doing the project, we had to present to our school as well as many guests.
