Jen has accepted new positions with the University of Pennsylvania and the World Resource Institute. The group will soon be moving to Philadelphia. Congrats to Jen on this new career step!

Our group has published a 3-part series on cost analysis of CCS applied to Natural Gas combustion, the US Industrial Sector, and Direct Air Capture in Environmental Science & Technology. This work reveals high-impact, low cost cases where CCS can be readily applied to dramatically reduce carbon emissions!

Caleb took a summer position as a Policy Fellow with ClearPath, where he will be developing policy recommendations surrounding decarbonization in the concrete and pavement space through CCS and clean materials.

A HUGE congrats to Dr. Cyrus Kian, who just completed his PhD with our group!!

Caleb visited an old asbestos mine near Belvidere Mountain in northern Vermont. He took samples of tailings to be assessed for a potential use as a CO2 sink through carbon mineralization.

Noah has been named the WPI TA of the year! His tremendously hard work both in the lab and in the classroom has really shown!

Pete participated in a Wikipedia Hackathon to update climate-related Wikipedia pages with reliable data. Very cool way to impact the field!

We hosted a meeting of some of the brightest stars in the Negative Emissions Technologies field in the world at WPI. Everyone collaborated to advance communication about Negative Emissions Technologies to the broader community, especially aspiring young researchers!

The National Petroleum Council released a report on Carbon Capture, Use, and Storage. Jen co-led the writing effort with John Northington of Southern Company and Cyrus assisted in writing as a member of the Carbon Subgroup.

Caleb's review article "Utilization of Mineral Carbonation Products: Current State and Potential" has been published in Greenhouse Gases: Science and Technology. We also made the journal cover with the image featured on our Mineral Carbonation page!

Pete's hard work is demonstrated in several recent publications. Two publications deal with ammonia production by investigating nitrogen diffusion in V-based membranes and the hydrogen sink effect during plasma catalysis. Also on the topic of membranes, Pete obersved hydrogen dissolution in Pd-alloy membranes

The first ever journal on Negative Emission Technologies was launched under the framework of the open-access Frontiers in Climate journal by Jen and her colleague Phil Renforth of Heriot-Watt University.

Pete was invited to give a talk at the Yale School of Forestry. He gave a brief overview of DAC technologies and cost estimates, as well as engeering aspects that might be of interest to explore and improve if we are to achieve scale in a reasonable time frame.

Pete recently presented his research at the ACS National Meetings in San Diego, CA and in Philadephia, PA, at the Engineering Conferences International CO2 Summit II: Technologies and Opportunities in Santa Ana Pueblo, NM, and as an invited speaker at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. He has been invited to give another talk at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in 2017. In addition, Pete is serving as a judge for the NRG/COSIA Carbon Prize.

Bryce and Simona had the great opportunity to travel to WPI to work in Prof. Yi Hua Ma's Center for Inorganic Membrane Studies. They learned the fabrication process of pure palladium and Pd alloy hydrogen permeable membranes. Following the fabrication, experimental testing were carried out at the Institute of Membrane Technology (ITM-CNR), which is housed at Simona's alma mater the University of Calabria in southern Italy. Multiple experiments were conducted related to natural gas reforming varying GHSV and feed compositions. In turn, an abstract was submitted to the European Fuel Cell 2015 meeting in Naples, Italy.

CEC group members attended the Gordon Research Conference on "Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage: Defining the Frontiers" in Easton, MA. Jen gave a talk titled "Nitrogen-Doped Micro and Mesoporous Physisorbents for Carbon Capture". Vikram, Jiajun, and Randall also presented their work.

Simona, Charles, Kyoungjin, Bryce, and Mengyao presented their research at the North American Membrane Society (NAMS) Annual Meeting in Boston, MA.
Congratulations go to Kyoungjin, whose poster was chosen as Honorable Mention in Membrane Synthesis at the student poster competition.
