My name is Jaylin Li, and I am a junior at the Mass Academy of Math and Science at WPI. I was born in San Antonio, Texas, 2005. Two years later, I moved to Rochester, Minnesota, where I lived for 11 years. At 13 years old, my family and I moved to Northborough, MA, where I attended Algonquin Regional High School for my freshman and sophomore years.
When I was 2 years old, my dad put a pair of speedskates on me and started teaching me to skate. At first I hated it, but as the years passed I found a passion for the sport. To learn more about my speedskating journey click here.
I a lot of biking and running for cross-training of speedskating. I like to do both sports but I am more or a road biking person than a running person, but I also like to run to help increase my endurance for speedskating. Biking seems more relaxing during the exercise while running feels good only after the exercise.
For myself, I have 4 bikes: 2 road bikes, 1 triathalon bike, and 1 mountain bike. My favorite is the triathalon bike because of the nice resting position (elbows are resting on the bike). I use the road bikes for more intense exercises such as interval training or sprinting. The mountain bike is mainly for getting around town for errands, but I also sometimes bike in the woods of my neighborhood.
