Humanities is an english and history centered class taught by Mrs. Small. In this class we focus on the central question- “what does it mean to be human?” We read various texts, watch videos, and have discussions about many important issues. In humanities, we typically write an essay for each unit, as well as weekly journals.
Our first essay was a rhetorical analysis of Ray Bradbury’s short stories. We were asked to compare Bradbury’s stories, “There Will Come Soft Rains” and “The Pedestrian.” My essay can be found below.
Our next essay was a satirical analysis for which we could choose from a multitude of prompts. I chose to read a satirical piece by 1920s writer Dorothy Parker and a modern day news article by a CNN writer. My essay analyzes the effectiveness of each of these pieces and can be found below.
