A signal is a function of time (t) that is representing some type of information. A heart rate on an EKG in a hospital is a signal. The information being transfers from your VCR to your TV is a signal. Everything we hear around us are sound signals being received and interpreted by our brain. The electricity through our houses is a 120V 60Hz Sine Wave. Signals are all around us.
