Foreign Language
Lang is a course offered by Señora Wildfong, where students are placed in classes based on their language, Spanish or French, and proficiency, advanced or intermediate. The classes use literature, music, film, discussions, and games for engaged learning, emphasizing grammar in context and project-based learning with podcasts, movies, and group projects. Assessments are done through video, audio, and written portfolios. My class is Advanced Spanish.
Why Learn a Second Language
Lang encompasses more than just learning your respective language, but also understanding the culture and history that comes with learning a language. This was our first assignment, and we had to reflect on an article titled, “Why Learn A Second Language,” by Tamim Ansary, where we considered the many benefits of learning a foreign tongue.

The first unit we covered in Lang revolved around reflecting on how our identities were shaped by our childhood. For the final assignment, we needed to write an essay in Spanish reflecting on a prominent memory or incident from our childhood. My essay centered around a game that I frequently played with my friends.
