For my volunteering work, I worked as a teacher’s assistant (TA) for a Worcester Public School run art history class held at the Worcester Art Museum. Pretty much every Tuesday and Thursday from 4:00 to 6:30 pm, I would help out with the class. Some of the main tasks that I was in charge of were doing presentations on art works that needed to be learned, helping with the set-up and clean up of different activities, organizing the attendance, and helping the students if they ever needed it. Overall I had a really wonderful experience with this volunteering. Not only was I able to get a better understanding as to what it takes to be a teacher, I was also able to have a lot of fun and continue to expand my Art History knowledge. On the left I have put a picture of the fun presentation one of the other TAs did on Halloween.
I have been dancing my whole life though I didn’t start to take it seriously until seventh grade. I dance at Burncoat High School and am on the BHS dance team. Through this program, I have been able to be a part of two musical theater style dance shows, Aladdin and Mary Poppins. Being a part of the dance program has taught me a lot, especially when it comes to working hard and having a good mindset. Over the past year, I had to do all my dance classes over Zoom. While that was quite hard, it ended up being very fun and teaching me a lot about holding myself accountable. The picture here is from a ballet master class that a group of us took.
Throughout my whole life I have been surrounded by music. My family all loves to sing and I have been taking real lessons for the past two years. I am always listening to music of all different styles and by all different artists. Some of my favorite songs are “Could it be Another Change” by The Samples and “This Charming Man” by The Smiths. Some of my other favorite artists include ABBA and Taylor Swift . I also really love musical theater. Scan the spotify code to the left to see a playlist with some of my favorite songs.
One of my other big hobbies is art history. During my sophomore year of high school, I took an AP Art History class through my school and fell in love with it. This year, I am a TA for the class and am so excited to be able to teach people about art. One of my favorite artists is Faith Ringgold and one of my favorite types of art is Baroque architecture. Below I have put an example of Baroque architecture and a work by Ringgold.
Watching movies became a big hobby for me during quarantine. Every week, me and my friends get together and watch a movie. It is one of my favorite things and it has caused me to become very interested in the behind the scenes of making movies as well as looking at all the little details and messages that each movie comes with. Over these next few years, I hope to gain more knowledge about different movies and how they have affected our society. My current favorite movie is "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" (which will always hold a special place in my heart).
My friends and family are very important to me. I love spending time with people as much as I can and think that being around people you love is what makes life so important. One big part of my family is our cats. Currently we have one cat, Willow, but in my life we have had two other cats as well, Oliver and Pluty. Below I have added some pictures of them. My friends are also a big part of my life. Throughout this website you will find many pictures of me with my friends, especially Caleigh, Helen, and Lena. I have a pretty close knit family with me, my two older siblings, and my parents. Our house pretty much always has various people in and out of it so more often than not, our family feels a lot bigger than that. You will also see many pictures of me and my family throughout this website. One fun fact is that both of my siblings also went to Mass Academy.
