Sleep disorders can be excruciating to experience. Each one of
them has detrimental effects on a person, from lack of sleep to too
much sleep, and even difficulty breathing while sleeping. All these
lead insomnia, narcolepsy, and sleep apnea to pose an impending
threat to a progressing society. Considering the importance of
sleep for productivity and brain function, this sleep epidemic is
not only harmful to the individual, but also impacts the overall
wellbeing of a community. Once diagnosed with one of these
conditions, maintaining a successful lifestyle can become extremely
challenging. Additionally, it’s a strenuous process to fix the
circadian rhythm and work back towards a healthy sleep cycle. Sleep
disorders can also lead to variety of other health effects like
depression, obesity, and heart disease (Sleep Disorders: Types,
Causes, Symptoms and Treatment, 2023). It is crucial to identify the
risk factors to prevent the development of a sleep disorder and
avoid all the tribulation that comes with a diagnosis. Predicting
someone’s likelihood of having these three disorders enables them
to become aware of their risk and leaves them space to make changes
in their lifestyle. Such awareness could ultimately spare many
people from having to deal with the stress that accompanies a sleep
condition.
