Gericke Group News:
Welcome to WPI’s Group for Membrane Biophysical Chemistry and Membrane Signal Transduction Biophysics !
The research in our lab is concerned with the biophysical characterization of lipid mediated signal transductions pathways and with the investigation of protein functions at interfaces. We are particuarly interested in phosphinositide mediated signaling events. Phosphoinositide lipids affect virtually all membrane related processes and dysregulation of phosphoinositide levels leads to a range of disease states, most notably cancer. The research in our group aims to understand how phosphoinositide mediated siganiling events are organized in time and space.
WPI is considered to be one of the premier institutions for Science and Engineering education in the United States. At WPI’s Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, undergraduate, graduate and postdoctoral students find an outstanding environment to pursue their career goals. Several research groups in the department investigate biomembrane related phenomena, creating a vibrant biomembrane research community. Our lab is located in the state-of-the-art Life Sciences and Bioengineerung Center at Gateway Park in Worcester, Massachusetts, which provides an excellent environement for interdisciplinary research.
I invite you to explore our site as well as the webpages of the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. Please feel free to contact me if you have further questions about our research or would like to apply for a position in our lab.
