The Rundown
This was the second tournament of
the year where we teamed up with the girls from Smith College. This time
we were officially Bunch o' Punks, well at least more officially than last time.
It was a gorgeous day, especially considering that it was the first weekend of
December! Again, we were missing two of our key players with Mark and Jay
away on IQP, but we still played hard. With this being our second time out
with the Smith girls, we were getting to know each other more and were starting
to get some good flow. Our first game was against Reservoir Penguins, a
Div I BUDACOL club team. Needless to say, we didn't expect to really
compete with these guys, but we played alright but eventually fell 11-2.
Next up was Tubbs, yet another BUDACOL club team with a lot of talent.
Again, we didn't have very high expectations of ourselves to keep up, just to
play our best. We seemed to be getting better, but ended up losing 11-3.
We were really looking forward to our next game, which was against URI.
Now this would be the third tournament this fall where we would play them, and
at the first one we lost 13-12, but came back to beat them both times we played
them at the next tournament. This time, though, it was URI's day.
They put together a great game and we just couldn't pull it together. They
ended up spanking us 11-4, but they're always a fun team to play. Our
final game of the day was against Wheaton College. We knew that this would
be our best chance of victory all day, and we all put our best game forward, and
ended up winning 13-10. All in all it was a great day, fun was had by all.
We look forward to playing with the Smith girls again, it was a completely
different experience than we're used to when there's more than one girl on the
field at one time!
