Math! What more can I say? So far in this class we have done Sketchpad and a little bit of Mathematica. Mr. Barys is an interesting teacher. He wants you to figure out how do the math for yourself rather than just giving you the answers himself.
Every week or so we have a math POW (Problem of the Week). This is when we do a lot with recognizing patterns and experiment with mathematica. We also did a PDQ (problem done quickly), but let me tell you that it is not a quick problem and you really have to work at it. Besides doing POWs and PDQs in mathematica, we do a lot with lines of best fit.
In math we do a 36 hour math problem, called the HiMCM. This is a really intensive project in which your group will work on math for way too long. But, my group did very well and received a score of Meritorious. We also did a very intensive project involving the math transfomation of numbers. I worked for 13 straight hours on this notebook.
