Hi, I’m Shashvat. I see that you've made it past my welcome page. Right now, I am sixteen years old, I am a sixteen year old junior at the Massachusetts Academy of Math and Science
(MAMS). I was born in Newton, Massachusetts but I spent my early years in Waltham.
I’ve always really enjoyed math, but now I am interested in a wide variety of other subjects including computer science and robotics.
Read down below to learn about my interests and hobbies.
I love to do competition math. I am a member of the Western Mass ARML team and participate in as any math competitions as I can. In the past, I have participated in ARML, ARML Local (where I placed first), the Harvard-MIT Math Tournament (HMMT), and MMATHS at Yale. This past year, I placed second at the Yale math competition! This summer I went to PROMYS, an intensive math camp.
I also like computer science and programming. Last year, I participated in the USACO online programming competitions. I climbed from the Bronze Division to the Platinum Division in my first competition. I was also accepted into a program called MIT Primes. As a result, I am currently doing top-secret research on the cryptocurrency Monero. Monero is a cryptocurrency with a strong emphasis on privacy. It aims to hide the sender and receiver of a transaction as well as the amount sent in the transaction. I am working with a partner who is a senior. Our findings were recently published; you can read them here. The research was even mentioned in a Wired article! This research was also submitted to the Siemens competition, where we placed as regional semifinalists. You can view our Siemens submission here.
Students at Mass Academy are required to complete 50 hours of community service. Over the school year, I volunteered at the Shrewsbury Public Library weekly. I shelved books and helped keep the library organized.I also volunteered at events like the their summer carnival. I also volunteered at the AMSA-MAMS Pi Day Math Tournament. I served as a problem writer, as well as a grader, for the event.
I am also an aspiring tiger-rider. I have three pet tigers in my backyard.
