It seems that a large portion of the population of WPI are fans of the TV show The Big Bang Theory. If you don't know it, it's actually a pretty good and funny show. The show revolves around 4 socially-awkward friends in LA, all scientists of some sort: a theoretical physicist, an experimental physicist, a particle astrophysicist, and an aerospace engineer. The show contains many nerdy and geeky references, and has spawned some pop-culture phenomenons of its own (namely Rock-Paper-Scissors-Lizard-Spock).
Well, now that you've been brought up to speed, welcome back! The whole point of all this is that season 5 is about to begin. In fact, it begins on this very night (September 22)! Thus, join us to watch the season premier, featuring back-to-back episodes! It shall be good times. =)

A few years ago, we bought a decent amateur telescope. We always intended to go stargazing. Unfortunately, for various reasons, this never eneded up happening. Well, we're finally going to make use of our telescope! We will be meeting in the physics lounge as usual, and then heading somewhere nearby with good viewing. I will post more details here as we firm them up.
One thing to note is that, of course, there's always the chance that inclement weather could get in our way. Thus, we have designated the next evening (Thursday, September 29) as our backup day.

Every fall we hold a BBQ, and thus we are continuing that tradition! We set up in front of Olin, and we often bring out some of our other cool demonstrations, too! Last year, we brought out our Van der Graaf generators and bubbles, and discovered that bubbles follow field lines! I don't know what we'll bring out this year, but we'll probably bring out something for your (and our) amusement. So come on down and get some free food!
