Hey guys and gals!

Today is an exciting day for the world of physics. At some point today, the LHC will not only fire, but will completely circulate its beam, first in one direction, then in the other, testing the ATLAS data collector in the process! From the LHC blog: "Then in the coming days or weeks we will have two beams of protons in the LHC at the same time...and finally collisions!" I CANOT WAIT!!! More info here.

Okay, on to news for us. So, as the potato cannon still wasn't finished, we worked on that again this week. Very few people showed up, but we got it done. Thanks to Cathy for the idea to put the ignitor on the lid, and I think that will work very well. And thanks to Kyle for helping me to implement it. We hit some hitches, but I stayed late and finished everything up. Maybe we can fire it at some point in the near future!

And finally, as next week is Thanksgiving break, we have no meeting. Enjoy your Turkey Day, and I'll see you all after break!
