WPI SFS - The WPI Science Fiction Society Defending the galaxy since 1974

October 3, 2007 - Tonight, On A Very Special "Meeting Minutes"...

Not much of a spin this week, but then again, putting these minutes out flat would probably make the rather-important bits at the end much easier to read.

Friday Gaming will commence, as usual, in the Campus Center on Friday night.  Bring games, bring friends, bring the shambled remains of your opponent's dignity.

Sunday Magic will happen at 1pm in the Campus Center.  Sam is going to be running a Lorwyn draft, which is special because Lorwyn is unavailable for purchase as of yet.  The limit is 8, so email him pronto if you want in, at shl@wpi.edu.

Monday Heroes will occur as it did this week, next Monday at 9pm in Fuller Labs' gigantic auditorium whose name escapes me at the moment.  It's big and unmistakeable.

Wednesday Sci-Fi this week consisted of the legendary Lost Skeleton of Cadavra.  It is fantastic.

Robyn is shooting to revive the Geek of the Week an article for each issue of The Towers (as a quasi-parody on the Greek of the Week.  Also because hey, geeks are awesome).  Email her at rcolopy@wpi.edu if you're interested in being Geek of the Week.

Run for SGASeriously.  SFS representation in the SGA helps a ton.

Nyren wants to garner interest in participation in the MIT Mystery Hunt, a puzzle competition taking place in January, probably on the week of 18th.  Registration is not yet open, but will be soon.  Email nyren at nyrens@gmail.com for more info.

Krissy wants to get people together to go to Anime Boston 2008, happening March 23ish this year.  Registering as a group nets you a discount.  Email kdavenport@wpi.edu for more info.

KILROY Sketch Comedy is having their A-Term show this Friday at 8pm in Kinnicutt Hall (in Salisbury Labs).  It's a pretty awesome show this term, I must say.

Alex Camilo wants to run a TUB of Fullmetal Alchemist in B Term, but wants to know who's interested first.  Email him at alex.camilo@gmail.com for more details.

Jansen wants to run a D&D campaign in B term.  You play as dragons, and the rules of D&D will be bent pretty hard.  Email janzen@wpi.edu if interested.

As you (hopefully) have heard by now, Monica Kolb has resigned the office of Vice President, which means by SFS Constitution we need to hold an election to fill the position.  We will follow (for the most part) normal election protocol for this.  Nominations are open from now until Sunday, October 7, at 11:59pm.  If you would like to nominate someone, either email sfs@wpi.edu (and if possible let the person know you're nominating them -- optimally, CC the email to them as well so they can accept or decline directly) of find Jon (again, preferably with your nominee there) and inform him directly.  You may not nominate yourself.  You must be a paying member ("Bureaucratic Significance") to either nominate a candidate or be nominated.  On Tuesday, October 23 at 7:12pm, there will be a special meeting to elect the Vice President.  At this meeting, nominees will have time to speak on their own behalf to the voters.  Once everyone has said their piece, the floor is open to questions.  Following that, all nominees will step outside, while the voters discuss the candidates.  Jon will then call for a vote.  One vote per person.  If multiple candidates are close enough (Jon's call), then those which were tied (or otherwise close) will be re-voted on, the others removed.

Current Nominees (who have accepted):
Sam LaFleche
Frank Bivona
Josh Luther
Rick Desilets
Robyn Colopy
Jansen Smith
Eric Willison

Nominees Yet To Accept Or Decline:
Nyarlathotep
Pants

Hasta la vista,
  Rick "No Hablo Español" Desilets
