WPI SFS - The WPI Science Fiction Society Defending the galaxy since 1974

September 12, 2007 - Catch? There is no catch!

So, it's been a long couple days for me, so there's no quirk to this Meeting Minutes email.  Unless you count "quirklessness",  in which case this is still quirky.

Jon has been kidnapped by Absence of Color and sends his regards/plea for help.

Friday Gaming continues as usual in the Campus Center 3rd floor Friday night afterdinnerish.  Myself and Rich Pavis will be around for the duration.

Sam is intending to start a Saturday Magic quasi-weeklyish event.  Contact him at shl@BOB.

Nyren would like to let y'all know about the upcoming LARPs, which are as follows:
September 16 - How Not to Write a Fantasy Novel.  It's full.  It says hi, but doesn't write.  The jerk.
September 30 - Marlowe 2020.  Way empty.  Needs more people, badly.  Contact Kate at ultimatepsi@STEVE.
October 26-28 - The Morning After.  Needs a few more people.  Get those forms from / back to Nyren ASAP if you want in.

Jo's workplace is having a book drive for the United Way, and would love it if people would be willing to donate gently-used (note: if it's in two pieces, it's not "gently used") books.

If you have any questions, comments, suggestions, concerns, or death threats about this year's first (of two) Gaming Weekend, we'd love to hear them at sfs@BOB.

The library is having a fantabulextravamazing giveaway of a laser tag set.  Contact Robyn at rcolopy@BOB for more details.

The library is also setting up a Gaming Weekend Lost & Found.  If you lost something, or if you found something, contact Robyn and she will take your found item and/or note the lost item and/or use Jedi mind tricks on you.

Marina Varlamova and Rashmi Venkatesh (who will from here on out be referred to as the Fightin' Vees), with the help of the eternal face of anime and other things, Nyren, have gotten (juuuuuuuust about) all the clearance set away to start an Anime Club here at WPI!  If you would like to join, email one of them (marinav@BOB, rvenkatesh@BOB, nyren@BOB)

Chrisco is making a TI Booty Call.  Anyone interested in playing, or learning how to play, should contact him at chriswoo@BOB.

Bert would like to GM a pre-gen D&D game (provided by Wizards of the Coast).  If you are interested, email him at bleduc@BOB.

Mike Hyde wants to gauge interest in a large game of Space Empires V.  It's big.  And awesome.  Email hydem@BOB if interested.

Nothing is happening on September 23 at 2:38pm in Cambridge, MA.  But in case something does (like a collection of ridiculous hardcore XKCD fans), Jansen is trying to organize a trip, as buses are a no-go.  Please email janzen@BOB if you would like to come, and please specify if you can drive.

I forgot to bring this up at the meeting proper, but...  I've recently become a member of KILROY Sketch Comedy, and there is filming for a sketch going on this Sunday that involves lots of gigantic stuffed things and/or weird cartoony paraphernalia.  So if anyone has stuff they would like to donate, please email me at witoki@BOB (or just reply (NOT REPLY-ALL.  Do this and I will maim you.  HardMuch.) to this email).  As a side note, KILROY will be having its A Term show October 5.  There'll be an item for this down the line or some such.

Ta for now,
Rick "Jansen Has No Fingers After Writing On My Board Last Night" Desilets
