- Question: How is the score effected if a team is Disqualified
- Answer: The team that was disqualified will recieve zero QP's. The other team will recieve three times whosever's matchpoints are greater for QP's. The team that was not DQ'd wins the match. If both teams are disqualified then both teams get zero QP's and the win will go to who ever wins the tiebreaker(s).
- Question: Can we use the sheet metal pieces from an erector set if they closely resemble the ones given to us in the kit? I ask this because the pieces are made of steel and not aluminum. This way we will not have to pay for the pieces that we need to cut or exessively bend.
- Answer: You may not use pieces for an erector set because you are not allowed steel outside of the kits except for shafting. By the way all the pieces in bot the Erector Sets and the eduRobot kits are steel.
- Question: If we were to make the "shapes" on the field how would we make them?
- Answer: The shapes were made out of buckets one square and one circular. We took each bucket and cut it using a hack saw to create five circles and two squares each one inch deep. All the shapes were then deburred to get the nice edge they have now. Then two of the circles were bent at three points equidistant from each other to create triangles. Next the cicles were spray painted white, squares blue, and the triangles red. Presto you have your shapes.
- Question: Can we spin the goal post around, seeing as how it is not mounted to the field?
- Answer: You may not intentionally twist the goals.
- Question: Where can I find more information about the EduRobot Kits?
- Answer: There is information available on the FIRST site and Innovation FIRST site.
- Question: What are the thicknesses of the shapes that are placed on the field?
- Answer: The shapes on the field are to be approximately 1/8" in thickness, and 1" in height/width.
- Question: How long is the chain in the kit?
- Answer: At least 24 inches.
- Question: What are the new kit rules?
- Answer: We are considering the fair ways to allow teams to modify and replace kit parts. We expect to finalize the kit rules early this week.
- Question: Can lexan or aluminum from outside the lab be used if it meets the material requirements? (i.e. lexan of no greater thickness than 1/4 inch)
- Answer: That will probably be fine, as long as it meets the additional requirements. Note, however, that the rules regarding the kit and additional materials are not yet finalized.
- Question: Is the top of the goal post 18 inches from the ground or is the bottom of the goal post 18 inches from the ground? what is the diameter of the PVC that it is constructed of?
- Answer: The pipe is "1 inch" PVC pipe. That means the inside diameter is 1". The outside is ~1.25", also, there are caps on the end of the pipe which are ~1.5" OD. The top of the pipe is 18" off the ground.
