Annual Programming: The Herd

During Fall 2007, SAS created a new student sports fan club to actively support WPI's Athletic Teams, called The Herd. The Herd is intended to be:

• A Students Sports Fan Club open to all WPI Students in support of WPI's Athletic Teams
• Facilitated by The Student Alumni Society and carried out in conjunction with other campus organizations
• The Herd is intended to generate school spirit by actively supporting our sports teams
• We are also pursuing the creation of a student seating section.

Our program kickoff event was held on December 2, 2007 with an outdoor BBQ before the men’s basketball game. Students enjoyed the BBQ, receiving their “Gompei is my Homeboy” T-shirts, and showing WPI school spirit by attending the basketball game as a “herd”. We hope during the next few months, The Herd will continue to grow as it attends many more athletic games.
