I did a Research Project during 10th grade at Shrewsbury High in a course called "Research Topics and Honors Chemistry/Honors Advanced Math II". I have to say, the project wasn't particularly well executed, so I'm aiming higher this time around
This time, I'm aiming at improving medicine organization at hospitals. Current Computerized Physician Order Entry systems (CPOE) are extremely powerful, but they still do not protect people from all medical errors
The goals of this project are to improve upon CPOEs through the Six Sigma engineering philosophy and tools. Using Six Sigma along with information from various journals brought from WPI's electronic library, I hope to create a CPOE with fewer errors.
The overarching goal of this class is to write a research paper on the project. For the moment, we're working on our literature reviews. Although mine isn't nearly as long as other papers (I'm looking at you Ryan Lagoy), there's some interesting thigns about health care that can be found based on the research I've done.
We do our citations by the American Psychological Association's standards (APA citations).
UPDATE 12/20: This project is going to change drastically in the coming weeks due to expert information coming to me about where to aim for this project. Stay tuned!
