Nature Conservation Organizations

Central Mass Bird Update homepage.

This new section, still under development, will list various conservation-related web sites based in or relevant to central Massachusetts. Suggestions for additions are welcome.

Worcester Chapter of the Appalachian Mountain Club
The Worcester Chapter of the Appalachian Mountain Club promotes the protection, enjoyment, and wise use of the mountains, rivers, and trails of the Northeast. In particular, the Worcester Chapter is dedicated to the outdoor resources of Central Massachusetts, for the purposes of education, recreation, and conservation.

Wachusett Greenways
A Central Massachusetts organization actively involved in constructing and maintaining "greenway" corridors through our area. This group is spearheading the effort to convert the old (abandoned) Central Mass Railroad into a multi-use Rail Trail, for various types of non-motorized use such as hiking, biking, and skiing.

Nature Conservancy
This national organization does a wonderful job identifying and helping to protect our remaining critical habitat. Check out their new feature called "The Great Places Network." This free service provides an online resource for people interested in the latest updates and conservation-related events, including items of local interest.
