Here is the best source of information about the WPI RSA! ... Enjoy!

Presenting...

ROMANIANS AT THEIR BEST... AT WPI!

The Romanian Student Association at WPI is a cultural organization with a few goals:
  • To reunite all the Romanians around campus and keep a strong bond between them.
  • To to promote the values of the Romanian culture to the WPI Community.

Formed and officially recognized in November 2004, the RSA is a young club numbering about 20 members, graduates and undegraduate students, professors and fellows. We should be proud of our Mathematics professors :
  • Prof. Florin Catrina - Visiting Assistant Professor in the dept. of Mathematical Sciences
  • Prof. Bogdan Vernescu - Department Head of Mathematical Sciences and Professor
Our first president, Mr. Daniel Onofrei, has done a good job leading this Association and organizing the first ever Romanian Night at WPI. He is a PhD student in the Mathematical Sciences Department and founder of the WPI RSA.

Although most of the members are, in fact, undergraduate students, we have many hard-working graduate students in our organization. All of us have high GPA's (Grade Point Average) and an outstanding record here at WPI. Probably this is why for the academic year of 2004-2005 WPI decided to offer admission to almost 10 new undegraduate students. We have students from all major areas of Romania, with a strong presence from the Eastern and South Eastern part of Romania.

Our scholarships are in the range $20,000+! We are the best Romanians around! High SAT scores, strong records, sky-rocketing GPAs... that's us! Yes, all in WPI!

So, about us ...

Since the beginning of the school year 2004-2005, before RSA was formed, we were a bunch (most of us) that liked to party and have a good time especially during weekends. I know some of us think about the time we spent in A term with nostalgy... I hope we can do it again next year in at least the same manner. We are eagerly waiting for the new Romanian undegrads to arrive in the fall !

I think we are well-known around campus. We have a lot of friends (international students, American students, etc) and we often meet to do fun things and have a very good time. Dinner is the time of day that most of us meet and talk about our day, funny and/or interesting events, happenings, etc. We help each other in academics when we have to, we care about each other, we are confident in ourselves, and also obviously proud of what we are... See the repeating "we"? It is because we have something to say about us, and that's why you are reading this page : About Us!

So, as a message to prospective Romanian students, if you love to have fun and have high achievements, then definitely join WPI! It is a very good school, renown regionally! It is a project oriented community with lots of opportunities all year round. To read about the Two Towers tradition here, at WPI, please follow this link : WPI - Two Towers
