The new member period is also a time when you will get to know the sister better, they will get to know you better, and you will learn about the history, values, and traditions of Phi Sigma Sigma. It is a busy time for everyone, but the rewards are well worth it. Your academics will not be compromised since one of the core values of Phi Sigma Sigma is academic achievement. We are all here first for our degrees.
To help you with this process, there is a Sisterhood Development Chair. She will be coordinating most of the activities that relate to the New Member period, and continued sisterhood development. She is also there if you have any questions or concerns. For a more personal introduction to Phi Sig, you will choose a Sapphire Sister, an active member who will help you with anything relating to both Phi Sigma Sigma and your career at WPI.
Along with participating in the activities, attending meetings, and actively learning about Phi Sig, there is a financial responsibility. The dues you pay go to help pay for sorority events and programs, both local and national. We want to make joining Phi Sig possible for everyone, so don't sweat the money. The Bursar (our fancy word for Treasurer) is ready to help you find a way, whether it is through scholarships, grants, or payment plans.
Your new member period is only the beginning of your time with Phi Sigma Sigma. The rewards of what you will learn and experience will benefit you throughout the rest of your WPI career, and beyond.
