Jennifer M. McLaughlin
Phi Sigma Sigma
Gamma Iota Chapter
Class of 2006
Jennifer M. McLaughlin, 24, died peacefully in her sleep on November 1st, 2008, while attending a business conference in Nevada. Jennifer began work this year for Hologic Inc., in Marlborough as a biomedical engineer. Previously, she worked at Innovative Spinal Technologies in Mansfield for 2 years, where she was responsible for developing two patents in the medical field.
She graduated in 2006 from Worcester Polytechnic Institute where she was captain of the Women's Varsity Crew team for 2 years and a member of the Varsity Women's Swin team. She was also a member of the Phi Sigma Sigma sorority and the Society of Women Engineers. Recently, Jen moved to Marlborough, MA with her boyfriend, Ryan Wartman, also a WPI alumni ('03). Jen was dedicated, genuine, caring, and a great friend to so many people. Please keep Jen and her family in your thoughts and prayers; she will be missed by all.

Alumni Involvement...
The accomplishments of the Phi Sigma Sigma sisters could not have been possible without the help of our Chapter Key Advisor, Jennifer Fournier. Each year, Jen (Kaska) leads the Alumni Advisory Board, a team of Phi Sigma Sigma Alums who help the undergraduates fulfill their specific position's duties and accomplish their individual goals. Furthermore, as our Chapter Key Advisor, Jen has done a tremendous job of making our executive board and e-council successful, giving us constant advice and encouragement.
Her guidance has lead to numerous achievements such as the success of our Chapter Scholarship Fund and the increased involvement of Phi Sig Alums. This September, Jen will be expecting the newest addition to her family - a baby boy! While Jen will remain a resource during the upcoming year, she has handed her duty as Chapter Key Advisor to Kristin Collette, Phi Sigma Sigma Alumnae of 2006.
We wish Jen the best of luck and thank her for her continued support. In addition, the undergraduates would like to welcome Kristen Collette as our new Chapter Key Advisor!

In addition, the ATF is working on estabilshing a website which will act as a networking system between Alumni and undergraduates. Ideally, it will contain discussion boards, undergraduate news, photos, an updated calendar, and alumni contact information.

Scholarship Fund...
Scholarship Fund on it's Way!
Current Amount: $3,227.12
Goal: $10,000
The Gamma Iota Chapter of Phi Sigma Sigma is well on its way to reaching the goal of $10,000 needed to start its own Chapter Specific Scholarship Fund. The scholarship fund, started in the spring of 2007, will be a Scholarship awarded to one deserving Gamma Iota sister each year, undergraduate or post-graduate. Both the process for applying and warding of the scholarship will be the same as all other Phi Sigma Sigma Foundation scholarships, except that this one can only be awarded to a Gamma Iota sister.
Once we raise $10,000, the scholarship will be parmanent and initiated sisters can apply each year. The criteria assessed includes chapter, campus, and Panhellenic involvement, community service, academic honors, GPA, personal statement, and letters of recommendation. With this strict evaluation, the hard work of a Gamma Iota sister will be recognized in the form of financial aid. Like a Phi Sigma Sigma, once the scholarship exists, it will always exist and continually help Gamma Iota sisters.
Please send any donations to the house:
15 Elbridge St., Worcester, MA 01609
Attn: Scholarship Chairman
Donations are also being collected in the form of Shaw's receipts. A portion you buy at Shaw's will be donated to our Scholarship Fund. Please send your receipts to the same address.
Thank you for your continued support and generosity!
